Killed bugs:
*Exporting tiny pictures (around 16x16 pixels, or so) as jpeg could cause the program to crash.

*Rainbow Painter can now export Jpeg pictures. Programs like GraphicConverter save Jpegs slightly faster, but Rainbow Painter uses that extra time to produce a smaller file with the same quality.

*Quick Menu added. It's a new 'window content' where you can click to access the manual (the ?), find purchase info (the $), quit (the Q) or jump to the different studios (the numbers).
*You can now change color sets for the window frames under 'Appearance' in the main menu (press 'Esc').

*The 'busy' mouse pointer is now animated during all operations.

Killed bugs:
*A bug in the memory system could, in some cases, cause the program to crash.
*The program refused to import jpegs from some digital cameras/scanners, or imported them slightly 'roughed up' (thanks to Les Snively for finding this).
*When out of memory, some of the picture effects didn't tell the user.
*The picture effect 'Swap' corrupted the picture, if used on a selection (thanks to Terry Huud for finding this).
*The picture effect 'Swap' also corrupted the picture when you tried swapping a plane with itself.
*Destroying a layer and then destroying that picture caused the program to crash.
*A 'Ctrl'-click on any of the green display layer buttons in the Picture Editor now selects all layers.
*An 'Alt' ('Option')-click on a green display layer button in the Picture Editor now selects that layer, while deselecting all others (note that the edit buttons work in the opposite way).
*A 'Ctrl'-click on any of the red edit layer buttons in the Picture Editor now selects all layers.

*'Info' buttons added to the dialogs of all picture tools. Clicking on the 'Info' button will bring up info about the picture tool and how it works.

Killed bugs:
*Using a selection not made in the 'normal' (click up-left, release down-right) way could result in various problems.
*Trying to bring up a settings dialog for the picture tools 'Pick Color' or 'Square Selection', resulted in a minor display error.
*Quitting or changing studios while displaying a dialog would make the dialog window display content #1 when returning.
*Viewing a picture in fullscreen mode in 15bit color (thousands), crashed the program.
*The brief info/coordinates in the 'Realtime Zoom' displayed line two a pixel too far to the right.
*The selection occasionally had some display related problems.
*The brief info/coordinates in the 'Realtime Zoom' could display a space first on the second line, after wrapping.
*In some very rare cases the mouse pointer would leave traces on the screen.
*The picture tools 'Scroll Layer' and 'Square Selection' could be activated when exiting a dialog or studio, if the mouse pointer was over a 'Picture Editor'.
Rainbow Painter v1.6.0 (December 17th 1999)
New image editing features:
*Viewing of the picture in fullscreen mode ('View Picture', its button looks like an eye and is situated above the display/edit buttons, to the right in the 'Picture Editor'). Use the mouse to navigate over the picture if it's larger than the screen, and just click with the mouse to go back.
*Hotkeys assigned to 'Undo Last Effect/Operation' ('Command-z' or 'F1') and 'View Picture' ('Control-*'). Both affect the target picture.
Killed bugs:
*Trying to bring up a settings dialog for the picture tools 'Pick Color' or 'Square Selection', resulted in a random dialog being displayed.
*A rare low memory bug has been fixed.
Rainbow Painter v1.5.0 (November 14th 1999)

*'Tips' added (accessible from the main menu, press 'Esc'), where you'll find useful hints and tips.
*'FAQ' added (accessible from the main menu, press 'Esc'), where you'll find some frequently asked questions and their answers.
*'Info' buttons added to the dialogs of all picture effects, picture operations and layer operations. Clicking on the 'Info' button will bring up brief info about the effect/operation and how it works.

*New picture format: JPEG/JFIF pictures can now be imported.
*You can now make a 'Selection' using the picture tool 'Square Selection'. The 'Selection' is supported by all picture effects (so they only affect the selected area), as well as some picture/layer operations.

Killed bugs:
*Running Rainbow Painter from CD crashed the program. Now an alert is displayed, telling the user not to run from CD.
*The layer operation 'Move' corrupted the picture if all edit buttons were turned off.
*Trying to 'Undo' after using the layer operation 'New' with all edit buttons turned off, would corrupt the picture.
*Having two 'Realtime Zoom' contents visible at the same time could, in some rare cases, crash the program.
*Trying to apply an effect when no edit buttons were switched on, did not generate an error dialog.
*Importing a picture didn't work if the file's extension was in lower case.
*Some picture effects have been slightly improved.
*New hotkey: The 'Quick Help' function is now also available by pressing 'Command-Space'.
*Selecting which layer(s) you want to edit is now done in the following way: Clicking on any of the red edit buttons selects that layer (automatically deselecting all others). To deselect or to select more than one layer just hold down the 'Alt' ('Option') key while clicking.
*The 'busy' mouse pointer is now animated, when applying picture effects.
*The portfolio now takes up less disk space.
Killed bugs:
*Blowing up a window with a picture editor and then returning to normal mode could, in some cases, crash the program.
*The layer operation 'Merge' handled some situations poorly, sometimes crashing the program.
*The picture operation 'Rotate' corrupted the picture when doing a '90° right'.
*The color of the mask layer can now be changed (click on the color shown below the mask tools).
*Coordinates are now displayed in the 'Realtime Zoom', when the mouse pointer is over a picture.
*The picture's size is now displayed to the right of the picture's name.
*'Export' as 'Raw' has been improved with a settings dialog.
*The 'Raw' importer now recognizes both 16-bit and 15-bit pixels.
*The picture effects have been divided into 2 sets ('Classic FX', 'Modern FX') for easier reference.
*The mask operation 'Remove' has been renamed 'Clear', to better reflect its function.

*When painting, holding down the mouse button in one window and releasing it in another, produced funny results.
*When clicking on 'Use Backup' or 'Mask On/Off', and quitting to MacOS directly after, those changes were not saved correctly, unless the picture was also changed in some other way.
*Sometimes, when starting Rainbow, a 'false' picture was added to the portfolio, causing random problems.
*'Shrink Window' could, in some cases, make the window too small for its contents.
*The MacOS mouse pointer appeared over Rainbow's pointer in some rare cases.
*If the background color of a picture was changed, the backup system ignored that, unless the picture was also changed in some other way.
Rainbow Painter v0.9.1 (April 17th 1999)
